Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Party

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Introduced

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

With an extensive roster, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group knows exactly where to head next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, invading the secret base, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

The antagonist then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, desires vengeance.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The target is wanted dead by the family.

This leaves them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

From episode three’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Fans can expect discovering which characters will be assigned to which table in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
