Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev won his initial trophy for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has had a difficult period, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the American major.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.
Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Corentin Moutet.
This marks the player's maiden championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.
Victory also means the Russian has won 21 titles at twenty-one distinct events.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is really nice," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on court had prompted observers to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an improved serve.
The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, taking 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to push for a third set.
The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner secured the title with a point at the net area, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after over two and a half hours.
