Vehicles in Germany's City Found Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were contacted by a resident who noticed a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by police.

Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers say they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The substance had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Police then found numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report initial examinations suggest the substance was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any injuries in relation with the occurrence," they added.

Municipal representatives stated they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior political figure commented the vandalism left him without words and required to be solved promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and revives the trauma of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting residents of immigrant origin in February 2020.
